Voriconazole binds and inhibits ergosterol synthesis by inhibiting CYP450-dependent 14-alpha sterol demethylase. The inhibition of 14-alpha sterol demethylase results in depletion of ergosterol in fungal cell membrane and thus responsible for the antifungal activity of Voriconazole.
