Benzocaine

Benzocaine is from a family of medicines called ester local anaesthetics. Benzocaine is prescribed as a topical pain reliever or in cough drops. In several of the over-the-counter anesthetic ointments, Benzocaine is the active ingredient. The most common of these products are oral ulcer gels. Benzocaine is combined with antipyrine to create A/B otic drops to relieve ear pain and the extraction of earwax.
