Lipoic acid

Lipoic acid is also known as α-lipoic acid is an organosulfur compound derived from caprylic acid. Alpha-lipoic acid is a vitamin-like antioxidant, which essential for aerobic metabolism. And in the treatment of obesity, the standard adult dose is 1800 mg per day to be taken for 5 months.
For treating type 2 diabetes in children, the usual pediatric dose of 300 mg of alpha-lipoic acid is taken twice a day in combination with insulin therapy.
