Fludrocortisone Acetate Manufacturers

Fludrocortisone is a corticosteroid that is used to help balance salt and fluid levels in the body. It's used to treat Addison's disease and other conditions where too much salt is excreted in the urine. It works by lowering the quantity of sodium expelled (lost) in your urine. Fludrocortisone Acetate Tablets USP) contain fludrocortisone acetate, a synthetic adrenocortical steroid with strong mineralocorticoid qualities and high glucocorticoid activity; it is only used for mineralocorticoid effects. Only a generic version of fludrocortisone oral tablet is available. There isn't a brand-name version of it. Fludrocortisone is only available in the form of an oral tablet How it works - Fludrocortisone binding to mineralocorticoid receptors causes changes in DNA transcription and protein translation, resulting in increased sodium channel density on the apical side of renal tubule cells and increased Na+-K+-ATPase density on the basolateral side. These will increase in receptor density which result in increased plasma sodium concentrations, and thus increased blood pressure, as well as a decreased plasma potassium concentration. Dosage - Fludrocortisone Acetate is available as a tablet to be swallowed. Although dosages ranging from 0.1 mg three times a week to 0.2 mg daily have been used, the most common dose is 0.1 mg Florinef (fludrocortisone) Acetate daily. Stopping fludrocortisone without consulting your doctor is not a good idea. Stopping the medicine suddenly can result in lack of appetite, upset stomach, vomiting, tiredness, and other side effects.
