Erythromycin Lactobionate Manufacturer

Erythromycin Lactobionate, sold under the brand name “Erythrocin Lactobionate”, belongs to the drug class of “Macrolides”. A wide range of infections, including those caused by gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, can be treated with this pharmaceutical medicine. It is administered intravenously. The recommended intravenous dose of this pharmaceutical medicine for severe infections in adults and children is 15 to 20 mg/kg/day. Severe infections may require higher doses of up to 4 grams per day. The risk of developing erythromycin-induced hearing loss in elderly patients, particularly those with impaired renal or hepatic function, may be increased by administering doses of more than 4g/day. Continuous or intermittent intravenous infusion of Erythrocin Lactobionate-IV (Erythromycin Lactobionate injection, USP) is the only method of administration. Due to its irritative properties, IV push is an unacceptable method of administering this drug to patients. Adverse reactions such as persistent nausea/vomiting, severe stomach pains, unusual tiredness, change in the amount of urine, dark urine, and yellowing skin or eyes are possible when using this drug. It is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any allergies before using this drug. There is a possibility that this product contains inactive ingredients that can cause allergic reactions or other issues. Using this drug during the first trimester of pregnancy may increase the risk of congenital cardiovascular malformations, according to recent research. The low levels of this drug in breastmilk and the fact that it can be administered to infants without causing harm are reasons why it is acceptable for nursing mothers to use. The infant is unlikely to be adversely affected by the small amounts in milk.

How does Erythromycin Lactobionate work?

By binding to the 50S ribosomal subunits in susceptible organisms, erythromycin inhibits protein synthesis. There's no effect on the synthesis of nucleic acids.

The cost of Erythromycin Lactobionate

Prices for a 10-pack of Erythrocin Lactobionate injectable powder of 500 mg range from $864 to $932.
